The Maldives is made up of many islands across natural atolls, so choosing the right resort also means checking transfer time, island style, room type, and meal plan.
Resorts close to Velana International Airport are usually reached by speedboat, while farther islands may require seaplane or domestic flight transfers.
The Maldives has warm tropical weather year-round. When visiting local inhabited islands, modest clothing is recommended. Resort islands are more relaxed for holiday wear.
